More Information
Toothfish's wall (and natural habitat) features a blend of both plant and animal plankton, which form the essential foundation of oceanic food chains. The survival of fish, in particular, hinges on the existence of these tiny organisms. Furthermore, plankton play a pivotal role in the carbon cycle. The remains of prehistoric plankton, in the form of coal and oil, are burnt by humans, leading to the release of carbon. However, a significant portion of this carbon is absorbed by plant plankton in the ocean, which in turn produce oxygen vital for human respiration.
